The company works closely with the Department of Health and has supported several health facilities with resources to run the facilities efficiently, in line with SDG 3.

EPK has supported in construction of three Triage units, the installation of eight rainwater harvesting systems and hand washing stations, the provision of assorted items in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and collaboration in the running of community medical camps.

EPK has also partnered with various stakeholders to upgrade community health facilities through, equipping, human resources, and commodities supplies. For example, upgrading of Chepsire Dispensary for expanded health care services.

EPK played a key role in linking up the partners to the County Government, signing up for an MoU and carrying out assessments to facilitate a Public Private Partnership (PPP) of the project.

EPK has invested in education to ensure inclusive and quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, in alignment with SDG 4.

Education is an important investment that EPK makes for the future, knowing that it contributes to social stability, improved health, and livelihoods, and is a driver of long-term economic growth.

The company works with relevant government ministries and the community to support and transform education and the education systems, so that every child gets the quality education they need to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society thus, leaving no one behind.

The company has supported ECDE centres with appropriate classroom furniture that encourages learning. It has also supported schools to enhance inclusion and increase digital literacy through computer donations to schools, besides, assisting schools establish computer labs for learning, and have access to computers for administrative use like tracking performance and setting internal assessments.

Additionally, the company is supporting adolescent girls and boys in schools with life skills education and support with menstruation products, helping to steady the attendance of girls in schools thus leading on the path of gender equality.

EPK has a Rainwater Harvesting Systems Program which continuously improves overall sanitation and hygiene for children in schools’ environments and communities.

This is in line with SDG 6, including better water management, improved technologies to increase efficiency, conservation, investments in communities in basic water infrastructure, and cooperation among communities to share water sources.

EPK has installed over 87 rainwater harvesting systems and handwashing facilities in community institutions like schools and hospitals. Additionally, EPK has put up sanitation facilities in schools and communal grounds. So far, 72 sanitation blocks have been constructed.

Through partnerships with over 14,000 growers, EPK ensures fair returns and economic empowerment. Programs like Tweguu Akase protect human rights, fostering a safe and respectful work environment for employees and partners.

EPK promotes gender equality by improving access to education for girls and boys and reducing barriers like menstruation products. Anti-harassment programs, grievance mechanisms, and annual training further support a safe and respectful environment.

EPK integrates climate-conscious practices, reducing carbon emissions and conserving biodiversity on 2,000+ hectares. Energy audits and staff training have halved carbon intensity, reinforcing long-term agricultural sustainability.
