Sustainability

Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

As part of our commitment to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and in keeping with our long-term sustainability obligations, EPK has adopted six goals and integrated them into our day-to-day operations. The goals embody our commitment to go beyond creating value for shareholders but also striving to address key areas which impact our wider community and natural environment.

SDG 1

SDG 2

SDG 3

EPK partners with health departments and communities to enhance healthcare through triage units, medical camps, and resources for better hygiene, such as rainwater systems. Upgrading facilities like the Chepsire Dispensary ensures expanded health services for the community.

SDG 4

EPK invests in inclusive, quality education by donating computers, establishing labs, and supporting classroom resources. It also offers life skills and menstrual support to boost school attendance, fostering an environment where students reach their full potential.

SDG 5

EPK promotes gender equality by improving access to education for girls and boys and reducing barriers like menstruation products. Anti-harassment programs, grievance mechanisms, and annual training further support a safe and respectful environment.

SDG 6

EPK improves water and sanitation access through 87 rainwater systems and 72 sanitation blocks in schools and hospitals. These initiatives enhance community health, focusing on efficient water management and conservation.

SDG 7

SDG 8

Through partnerships with over 14,000 growers, EPK ensures fair returns and economic empowerment. Programs like Tweguu Akase protect human rights, fostering a safe and respectful work environment for employees and partners.

SDG 9

SDG 10

SDG 11

SDG 12

SDG 13

EPK integrates climate-conscious practices, reducing carbon emissions and conserving biodiversity on 2,000+ hectares. Energy audits and staff training have halved carbon intensity, reinforcing long-term agricultural sustainability. These commitments reflect EPK’s dedication to a sustainable and equitable future for all.
