Terms and Conditions for the Mozilla open-source Innovation Week

The Mozilla Africa Mradi Innovation Week, from June 26-29 2023, in Nairobi, Kenya is an event organized by Mozilla in collaboration with MOICTDE. It brings together stakeholders to explore solutions that best address an intersection of our real-life challenges, as well as internet health priorities that address the needs of our population. These include African entrepreneurs, developers, civil society, policy makers, regulators, international and multilateral organizations, among others.

Mozilla plans to strengthen the innovation ecosystem by challenging participants to co-create solutions that speak to product innovation, policy, and movement building. The innovation challenge will unveil alternative models that serve real life needs of African users. Creating an internet that is empowering and useful to African users, while expanding Mozilla’s efforts to build with and not for African communities.

These Terms and Conditions explain your rights and responsibilities when participating in the Mozilla open-source Innovation Week. By participating, you assure Mozilla that you have read and agree to these terms. If you agree to these terms on behalf of an entity, you represent that you are authorized to and intend to bind that entity.

Eligibility

The Innovation Week is open to individuals who are at least 18 years of age, as well as to teams of individuals who collectively meet this requirement. Employees of Mozilla, our affiliates, and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.

Participant Obligations

Mozilla reserves the right to refuse entry by any Participant to the Event or to remove any Participant from the event or block them without any liability if, in its sole discretion, it determines that such Participant’s presence or conduct could cause:

  1. Mozilla, its affiliates, the event venue owner, the online event platform or the Participant to fail to comply with applicable law;
  2. Mozilla to breach any term, warranty, condition or other provision of any contract or undertaking to which Mozilla and/or any of its affiliates is or becomes a party; or
  3. disruption at the event, threaten the safety (including online) of other attendees or hinder the enjoyment of the event by other attendees, without prejudice to any other rights or remedies available to Mozilla.

Mozilla reserves the right to recover from the Participant any loss or damage incurred or suffered by Mozilla or any other Participants as a result of a Participant’s conduct at the event or failure to comply with these terms and conditions.

Intellectual Property

By participating in the Innovation Week, the participants agree that any concepts, ideas, designs, prototypes, or other intellectual property presented during the Innovation Week remain their property.

Mozilla will not use any of the concepts presented during the Innovation Week in any way without the prior written consent of the participants.

The participant acknowledges that Mozilla may receive similar ideas or concepts from other sources unrelated to the Innovation Week.

The participant is responsible for any copyright, patent, or trademark registration or protection necessary to protect their intellectual property.

Indemnification

The participant agrees to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Mozilla, and its respective parent and affiliate companies, contractors, contributors, licensors, partners, directors, officers, employees and agents (“Indemnified Parties”) from and against any and all third party claims and expenses, including attorneys’ fees, arising out of or related to any infringement of intellectual property rights related to their participation in the Mozilla open-source Innovation week.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any damages or losses arising from your participation in the Innovation Week, including but not limited to any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.

Governing Law

These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which our company is located, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law provisions.

Modification

Mozilla reserves the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time, without prior notice. Your continued participation in the Innovation Week after any such modifications will constitute your acceptance of the modified terms and conditions.
